Summary: In the fishing village of Makoko, the largest slum on the water in Nigeria, Madame F. wants to bring women together and perform a play called "Hear Word": a women's empowerment project on gender inequality, based on true stories, to bring women out of their oppression, convince them to speak up and encourage them to connect. But before she can begin, she must overcome the gatekeepers of patriarchy and religion.
During this discussion, members of the Taking Action for Equality jury, CECI staff and volunteers, will talk with director Chris Van Der Vorm and with a protagonist of the feature film about issues of gender equality, participatory approaches with communities, and women's economic empowerment in various countries.
