Review and Consultations on Canada’s International Assistance

News | Published at: July 18 2016

Last May, the Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, the honourable Marie-Claude Bibeau, launched a public review and consultations to renew Canada’s international assistance policy and funding framework. CECI has been an active participant in these consultations and presented a position paper to Global Affairs Canada in the name of the organization, as well as a submission signed by all of the official Canadian volunteer sending agencies. We hope to make a valuable contribution to the review led by the Minister and Global Affairs Canada.

> Read the Position Paper CECI submitted to Global Affairs Canada and learn about the statements and recommendations we made.

> Read the joint submission presented by 15 Canadian volunteer sending agencies, which emphasizes the importance of volunteer cooperation and asks that Canada’s policy on international assistance explicitly recognize the important contributions of Canadian international volunteerism to Canadian aid and development objectives.

CECI sincerely thanks the Minister and Global Affairs Canada for inviting Canadian civil society organizations to participate in the review of Canada’s international assistance.
