CECI has been a dedicated participant in the Scotia Bank Charity Challenge since 2012.
Each year is a new challenge, and each year CECI’s team grows and increases its fundraising goal!
2012: A small 10-person team of runners stepped up to the challenge and raised $8,000.
2013: 20 runners raised $20,000.
2014: Forty-eight motivated runners raised $40,000. The goal was doubled!
2015: A good fifty runners raised $50,000.
We are extremely proud to announce that in 2016, CECI’s team grew to nearly 100 participants and raised $73,000!
We would like to recognize the incredible commitment of all our participants in the Charity Challenge, which took place on a bright and sunny Sunday, April 24!
All of our participants—former and current CECI volunteers, employees, members and friends—took great pleasure from the event, whether they showed up solo or with their families to run and support our international cooperation projects!
Keep in mind that there are no specific age, status or fitness requirements to join CECI’s large team! So we hope to see you at the start line in 2017!
This year, our runners supported the following life-changing projects:
- The Armande Bégin Fund for women in Mali, under the steady leadership of Yves Pétillon, who motivated the troops and raised $53,000.
- The JUPREC project (Justice, Prévention, Réconciliation au Mali), a spirited new team that raised $8,950.
- The PAERIZ project supporting the women rice parboilers of Burkina Faso. The project is also supported by CECI’S Club des Ambassadrices, which raised $5,700.
- A young team of Uniterra program volunteers was able to raise $5,200.
Great job to all our participants and a heartfelt THANK YOU to all our donors who helped make this fundraiser a resounding success – an accomplishment that will help change people’s lives!
