Context

Since 2020, CECI has been working in marginalized neighbourhoods of south Bogotá and Soacha to strengthen the economic power of young Venezuelan migrant women and young displaced Colombian women, as well as to promote the creation of a living environment free of violence and discrimination. As a result of the economic, social and political crises facing Venezuela and Colombia, the migration of Venezuelans and a new wave of internal displacement of Colombians have reached record levels since
2015. This complex migration context poses an increased risk for women and young women who are systematically exposed to sexual abuse and violence, and are further forced into forced labour. CECI aims to help young women generate their own income through an economic activity that does not jeopardize their health, safety, or physical and psychological integrity. CECI also seeks to promote a more peaceful coexistence between Venezuelan migrants and displaced Colombians in their host communities.
